Site dedicated to the renovation of Peter Igo Park which is located in Brant Rock, Massachusetts. The Peter Igo Park Initiative (PIPI) is spearheaded by volunteers from the Marshfield Tennis Club.
A new addition to Peter Igo Park saw its first action last weekend as the first official tournament was held on two recently built bocce courts.
Bud Duksta, Friends of Peter Igo Park Chairman, said there has already been lots of interest in the two championship-sized Italian Federation-recognized bocce courts, which were constructed by volunteers and the Friends of Peter Igo Park.

The Laura’s Love Event is growing! In addition to funding the Lob-Stars tennis group for tournament participation, necessary instructors and equipment, the 8th Annual Laura’s Love tennis tournament, raffles and fundraising will expand to support additional adaptive programs at the YMCA such as: aquatics, arts-based programming at Laura’s Center for the Arts, golf, wheelchair tennis and basketball.
This tournament is in memory of Laura Emilson-Reikert. Proceeds from this event benefit the Emilson YMCA's Adaptive programs. For more information on this tournament, please contact Maureen Ahl (mahl@ssymca.org).
In addition to the tennis tournament, there will be a social starting at 6:30pm at the Laura's Center for the Arts.

The Marshfield Tennis Club and Friends of Peter Igo Park were recently recognized by the Veterans Affairs Boston Healthcare Systems Recreation Therapy department for offering a very successful adaptive wheelchair tennis program for disabled veterans to reach their rehabilitation treatment goals. Veterans involved in the program had a variety of treatment focuses including: inpatient rehab, outpatient rehab, new amputations, Alzheimer's/dementia, post stroke care, mental health/substance abuse and PTSD diagnoses.
Dan McDonald, who represents the Duxbury Bay Maritime School, teamed with former Rutgers oarsmen Oli Rosenbladt in the seniors men's master doubles competition earlier this week at the Head of the Charles Regatta on the Charles River in Boston. McDonald and Rosenbladt started 52nd (the last boat in the event to leave the start line) and finished 13th with a time of 19:49:58.
McDonald credits much of his success to the training he received on the Green Harbor river in Marshfield. Dan and his team can been seem regularly launching their sculls from the dock at Peter Igo Park. He referred to it as a "hidden gem".
The Marshfield Tennis Club is proud to be at the forefront of the movement to recycle used tennis balls. MTC is one of the first 100 communities in the United States to provide this sustainability service. In the coming years, it will probably seem strange to come off a tennis court in the U.S. and not have one of these AD-IN bins to discard unwanted tennis balls.

Most tennis balls end up in landfills, but the new hardcourts at CourtSense at Tenafly Racquet Club feature courts cushioned from thousands of recycled tennis balls.
Approximately 130 kids from the Marshfield Boys & Girls Club took over Peter Igo Park participating in basketball, street hockey, tennis (with instructors from the Marshfield Tennis Club), and rowing with certified rowing instructor, Dan McDonald and his crew.
