Marshfield Youth Basketball (www.marshfieldyouthbasketball.com) has generously provided a donation to the Peter Igo Park Initiative (www.peterigo.com). Led by The Marshfield Tennis Club, a group of Marshfield residents have undertaken the initiative to raise funds from public and private sectors to completely renovate the park.
With the generous support from groups like the Marshfield Youth Basketball, we will be able to provide new fitness amenities to Marshfield residents including basketball and tennis courts not only to provide additional facilities, but to work toward a brighter future and promote health and well-being.

The Green Harbor Village Association, recently hosted the annual HarvestFest in Green Harbor, to promote community awareness in Green Harbor. The event included family activities and food along with local musicians and artists. All proceeds from the event went to Green Harbor beautification and local charities including a generous donation to the Peter Igo Park Initiative.
We would like to thank the Green Harbor Village Association for their charitable contribution to help renovate the park and provide additional tennis courts to Marshfield residents.
Scituate Federal Savings has contributed $1500 toward the revitalization of Igo Park. The bank has long supported many community-based groups and was approached by the Marshfield Tennis Club, which is spearheading this project.

A run-down park in the Brant Rock-Green Harbor area is in line for a facelift , thanks to because of a new state law that gives towns more spending flexibility in spending their with Community Preservation Act money.
Marshfield’s community preservation committee voted Wednesday to support a $240,000 project that would improve the grounds at Peter Igo Park and stated that they would vote next year (2014) for an additional $240K.

Kids of all ages can skate on a safe surface this winter thanks to The Marshfield Tennis Club and Game On Sports who reinstalled the ice rink at the park this year. A new liner was purchased this year as vandalism destroyed the original liner last year. The ice rink is just part of volunteer efforts to improve the town-owned property, which provides a recreational area for the Brant Rock/Green Harbor section of town. Cold weather froze the rink solid and lighting at the rink allows for both day and evening skating. Bud Duksta, Chairman of the Peter Igo Park Initiative and Marshfield Tennis Club President, is hearing from residents and “they are thrilled!”

The existing Peter Igo Park, though in need of renovation, holds more than 40 years of memories. Added to the park during renovation efforts are new tokens rescued to commemorate the period in Marshfield. Benches formerly on the grounds of Marshfield High School now provide seating to Peter Igo visitors. They were obtained prior to the demolition of the high school’s courts and fields this fall.
